i want you to see me - Kristen Smyth
Inspired by her recent bipolar diagnosis ‘i want you to see me’ is a collection of paintings created in mixed media on canvas and perspex experimenting with textual elements in 2 dimensional art.
Kristen recently moved to the Northern Rivers area , perviously. from Melbourne where her artwork gained praise and where she's known for her writing and acting. A versatile creative Kristen is also currently preparing to take her version of "Frankenstein" to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and then to the Arts Centre in Melbourne later this year.
Before her art career, Kristen worked in politics, advising figures like Bob Brown and Pat McGorry. She also worked with Tony Blair and Gordon Brown in the UK. In addition, she played a role in starting The Big Issue magazine and was involved in the groundbreaking '90s magazine "Loaded," which will be featured in a BBC documentary this year. Kristen has also worked as an aid worker in Central Asia.
Her journey into the arts began when actor Tom Hardy suggested she try writing. Kristen is thrilled to be starting this new chapter of her life and is proud to share it with the Bundjalung Nation.
